Dr. Baha Altay is an esteemed academic and researcher specialising in educational technologies and pedagogy. After completing his doctoral studies at Keele University, he focused his research on online educational tools, online language teaching platforms, and the pedagogy of digital learning materials. Dr. Altay’s work explores the effective use of digital learning tools to enhance student achievement and optimize the efficiency of online educational processes.
Following his doctorate, Dr. Altay continued his academic journey at the University of Waterloo in Canada, where he conducted research on learning management systems (LMS) such as D2L (Desire2Learn) and Moodle. His work in this area included improving the user-friendly design of LMS platforms, developing interactive learning modules, and evaluating the pedagogical effectiveness of online teaching materials. His contributions have provided new approaches to enhancing teacher-student interaction and personalising learning processes in online education.
Currently serving as an Academic Manager at Richmond College, Dr. Altay oversees the development of educational programs and the implementation of digital learning strategies. In his academic leadership role, he actively works on improving the digital competencies of teaching staff, enriching online course content, and enhancing the overall learning experience for students.
Recently, Dr. Altay has focused his research on virtual reality (VR) educational tools. His goal is to provide students with more interactive and immersive learning experiences. Specifically, he investigates how VR and AR can simplify the understanding of complex subjects and create lasting educational impact. His primary objectives include increasing student engagement, making learning processes more accessible, and guiding educators in adopting modern educational technologies.
