About The Course
The Level 3 Diploma in Law is designed for learners aiming to progress to a law degree but lacking traditional entry qualifications. This qualification offers an introduction to law and the legal system, alongside essential academic, research, and communication skills to support learners’ development.
English law is formed through a combination of statute law, common law, and retained EU law. Statute law is created by Parliament, passing through readings in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords before receiving Royal Assent. Common law develops through judicial decisions and precedents set by higher courts. Despite Brexit, some EU laws continue to influence UK law, especially those incorporated during the transition period.
At the end of the course, a learner is expected to understand key principles of English Law, the rules of statutory interpretation, and the organisation and work of the English courts. They should know the key principles of contract law, including key legal issues, understand legal terminology and communication, and develop academic research skills and language skills in law.
